Why Split Is the Perfect Place to Start Your Yacht Charter Adventure
We get asked all the time, why Split? There are plenty of ports on the Dalmatian coast, but Split has something that others don't have: you step off the plane, you're in the old town in twenty minutes and by afternoon you're already out on the water.
That's what the best Split yacht charter looks like: luxury vessels, a route built around you, and Croatia's coast as your backyard for a week. No long transfers, no wasted days. The city and the sea are basically the same thing here.
Luxury Bareboat & Skippered Sailing: Which Experience Suits You Best?
Most of our guests fall into one of two groups. The first has a license, has chartered before and knows how to read a weather window. For them bareboat is the obvious choice - full freedom and full responsibility to set their own schedule.
The second group wants the experience without the stress. A good skipper can change the whole trip - not just navigation, but the whole shape of the tour. They have all the local knowledge: which bay gets the afternoon shadow, which restaurant in Vis doesn't take walk-ins, and when to push through to the next island versus when to just stay put and swim.
The Islands People Come Back For
Sail out of Split and within the first hour you already have options. That's the thing about this stretch of coast - there's always another island, each one carrying its own story.
Hvar
Hvar is usually the first stop and nobody who's been there argues with that choice. You catch the scent of lavender fields before the island even comes into view. After dark it's loud and lively - but sail ten minutes out and you find coves that feel like nobody's been there all day.
Brač
Brač is a different kind of stop. Zlatni Rat is the kind of beach that looks better in person than in any photo you've seen of it - a stretch of white pebbles that shifts with the wind and changes shape depending on when you arrive. No two visits look the same.
Vis
Vis is something else entirely. A former military island, closed to foreigners for decades, it kept a silence that is very hard to find elsewhere. The fish here is the freshest on the Adriatic. And the Blue Cave on nearby Biševo - where sunlight coming through an underwater opening creates an almost unreal blue glow - is just a few hours from Split. That's the thing about sailing from here: the islands that take other bases a full day to reach are just a morning away.
When to Book Your Split Yacht Charter
June and September are the months we keep coming back to. The sea is warm, marinas aren't packed, and you can walk into a harbour restaurant without a reservation you made two months ago.
July and August bring more of everything - more boats, more people, more energy - and some guests love exactly that. May suits people who want the islands quieter and mostly to themselves. The water is cooler but the hillsides are green and most anchorages you'll have to yourself.
As for timing, we always say the same thing: decide early. By the time most people start looking, the boats we'd actually put our own clients on are already gone. Whether you're looking for a luxury motor yacht, a sailing yacht or a daily charter from Split - the earlier you book, the better your options.
